Ronald G Murphy

He was born Wednesday, October 20, 1948 , the son of James and Frances (Welsh) Murphy. Ron graduated from Muncie Central High School and was a dedicated Bearcat. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Satterfield on May 2, 1980. Ron retired from New Venture Gear where he served as President of UAW Local 499. Following, he went on to be director at United Way. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias where he was a past Supreme Representative and a Knight of the Golden Spur, he also was a member of the Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan, and was inducted into the Kentucky Colonels. Ron was an avid golfer, wood worker, and wood turner.

Survivors include his children, Tonua Murphy, Duane Murphy, Tina Murphy, and Chad (Debbi) Hartley; brother, Charles T. Murphy; brother-in-law, John (Brenda) Satterfield; grandchildren, Cotie and Anthony Orcutt, Kayla (Clay) Kelsey, Jaysn Kye (Lauren) Murphy, Sara Creech, Zachary, Jamie, and Casey Hartley, Emma and Sam Poor; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his loving wife, Cheryl Murphy; his parents; his wife’s parents, Dana and Marylou Satterfield; daughter-in-law, Verronica Hartley; grandson, Nicholas Orcutt, and great-grandson, Zachariah Osgood.

Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.

Services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Entombment will follow at Elm Ridge Mausoleum.
