

She was born Shirley Walker on July 2, 1950, to the union of William and Jessie Walker, in Atlanta, GA.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of thirty-nine years, Robert J. Bird; her siblings, William Walker (Conyers, GA), Dianne Walker (Muncie, IN), Irma Walker (Stone Mountain, GA), Ruby Fraizer (New York); nephews, William (Deborah) Walker Jr, Scott (Shirley) Walker, Trevor (Melissa) Bird, Tyler (Erica) Bird, Dakota, Levi, Ethan, and Logan Bird; In-laws, Wanda Bird, Libby and Gerry Mills, Cherry Bird, Audry Walker, John and Lori Bird; great nephews Wayne and Travis Walker; great nieces Rhiannan Bird, London and Piper Lanning.
She had a long list of good, supportive friends, too numerous to include. Just to mention a few: Linda Smith, Stephanie Sanders, Valerie Glover, Alfreda Bright, Ruby Wright, Joan Scott, Tari Lambert, Carmen Vandergrifft, Robin Nichols, and Connie Suarez.
Shirley wants to be remembered by her family and friends as a happy, friendly, loving, spiritual woman.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1963. She spent most of her life in spiritual pursuits, learning and teaching Bible truths. Through her time in the ministry she has over 25 spiritual children. Especially dear to heart were Clint and Laura Vandergrifft.
She and her husband volunteered at the world headquarters of JW's in Brooklyn, NY and branch offices in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.
Her ultimate desire was to please Jesus Christ and Jehovah God, and to receive the promised reward of everlasting life on a praradise earth (Mt 5:5).
A Memorial Service will be held on August 29, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4405 N. Walnut St, Muncie, IN 47303, additional seating with audio tie-in at Cornerstone Center for the Arts, 520 E. Main St. Matthew Vann, from Patterson, New York will give the Memorial service.
