He was born Wednesday, September 11, 1929, in New Bremen, Ohio, the son of Walter and Jeanette Rump. Vernon was an avid photographer. He and his wife, Betty enjoyed spending winters in Florida. He retired in the late 1980’s from Montgomery Ward where he worked as a Regional Service Manager.
Survivors include his wife, Betty E. (Wyne) Rump; stepson, Rick (wife, Linda) Wojcik; step-grandchildren, Lisa (husband, Dale) Astrop, and Brenda (husband, Bernie) House; step-great-grandchildren, Brandon House, and Brock (wife, Alexa) House; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, Walter and Jeanette Rump; and two brothers, Don Rump, and Robert Rump, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Pastor Damon Soper officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at the Elm Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum.
