

He was born Wednesday, October 20, 1926, in Bloomingport, Indiana, the son of Levi and Myrtle (Thomas) Ozbun. Virgil enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved flying. As a pilot, he was honored as a member of the International Forest of Friendship. He was a 50 years member of Whitney Lodge #229 F &AM at New Burlington. Virgil retired from Borg Warner after working there forty three years. Mr. Ozbun was a U.S. Army veteran, served during WW II and was decorated with the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorius Unit Award and was honorably discharged on his 20th birthday, October 20, 1946.
Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Martha (Osborne) Ozbun; children, Janet Davis and Gregory (wife Melanie) Ozbun; seven grandchildren, Don Henderson, Danielle (husband Ryan) Sells, Nicole Davis, Nicolette Davis, Stuart Ozbun, Spencer (wife Kristen) Ozbun, and Sydney Ozbun; four great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren "on the way" and his beloved dog, Thor.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Orville Ozbun, Cecil Ozbun, Kenneth Ozbun and Joseph Ozbun; and a sister, Florence Rittenhouse.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 20, 2017, which would have been his 91st birthday, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call at Elm Ridge Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Friday. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday by Whitney Lodge #229.
Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum.
