

Earl Slaven, age 83, of Lavergne, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, evening January 5, 2026, at his home. Mr. Slaven was born in Scott County, Tennessee to the late Ernest and Alta Blevins Slaven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Ruth Slaven, who passed away in 2011; and his brother, Harlan Slaven. Mr. Slaven is survived by his daughter, Angela Dorris and her husband Keith; granddaughters, Josie Dorris and Macie Dorris; brother, Doyle Slaven; and sister, Dean Lee and her husband Lloyd.
A service to celebrate Mr. Slaven will be at Twelve noon on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Roselawn Funeral Home with Steve Markum officiating and burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are cordially invited to the visitation on the evening of Monday, January 12, 2026, from Three O’clock till Seven O’clock also at Roselawn Funeral Home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Slaven proudly served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After serving, he was very supportive of local veteran organizations. He was a highly skilled diesel mechanic, working on big rigs, heavy equipment, tugboats and generators. He specialized on Caterpillar Diesel Engines. Since retiring, he always enjoyed coffee with friends, time with family, and looking at antiques.
