When I was just a little kid we would visit down in LA and I was always so taken with my Aunt Janet. You’d look at her with those gorgeous eyes and that sweet smiling face and just feel like you got hit with some sort of love bomb. It really was some sort of schoolboy like crush, like Ralphie in A Christmas Story gazing up at his teacher and barely being able to speak. This person looking at you and just that was enough to know she was full of love and that she cared. 

And so it was every time I had the chance to see her. She’d pull that smile and you couldn’t help but melt a little bit. To me, always the sweetest person in the room.

I have no doubt that there were times when her sons and daughters, my cousins, made their mom angry. If you know my cousins then you know. I count myself lucky that I never had to see that anger on her face. My guess is she’d give a look and you’d want to find a place to hide until the moment passed. And I think the worst and best part of that angry moment would be the love and care was still right there.

The world lost a lovely person. I wish I could have been there with everyone, in person, to say “Bye.” You all know you have my heart with you. Love you all.

My memories of Aunt Janet are much more remote, the fun days my mom (Barbara) and all of us children spent together in Disneyland.  Mom and Janet laughed a lot together.  I remember these as really happy times.  I will miss you, Aunt Janet!!

Your 90th Birthday Party was unforgettable

Some of my favorite times were our zoo trips.

Grandmothers hold such precious memories for us. Janet believed in us all. She cultivated in us the spirit of love and togetherness. 

The love and light that shined through your eyes and your smile every time Tristan was topic of conversation or in the room is something I will never forget.  Thank you for giving him the greatest love and boy did he love his Great Grandma.  Even today when he got in trouble, he cried that he needed his Great Grandma.   

Building so many memories with you over the last few years only makes me wish there was more time.  More trips to the zoo, more movie dates, more popcorn to share, more stories and laughs to be had.  Those memories created will never be lost.

Words can’t truly express how much we miss you. But we also know that you would want us to keep going, to find happiness in life, and to embrace the love that surrounds us. We honor your memory by living with the same grace, strength, and compassion that defined you. We love you always Gma!

Dear Grandma, 
I will miss you so much. I will never forget you or all of our funny moments and memories you made in my life. I am sorry that I can’t tell you in person. But you know I will always love you and miss you. Know matter what, you will always be in my heart and everyone else’s. I love you and now it is time to say goodbye!

How lucky are we to have been loved by the woman who absolutely exuded kindness? Gma truly loved my family as if we were her own. My boys, ohhh how they loved to run down to The Chambers house just to sit and visit with Grandma Janet. They would tell her jokes, read to her, and just talk. Our lives are fuller because she was in it. Our hearts will forever remember her sweet giggle, her hugs, and how much she loved us. 
We love and miss you so much Grandma Janet.

To my “other Grandma”

For the past 17 years God has blessed me with another Grandma. Every time I had the chance to see you I would take it. Going over to Julie and Richard’s house and getting the chance to talk to you and joke around were some of my favorite memories at the chamber residence. You had the chance to see me become the man I am today and you definitely helped me along the way. I’m m truly gonna miss talking college football with you and making fun of “The Ohio State” lol and you just laughing.   You had a smile and giggle that would make a room light up.  I know you are in a better place now flying high and seeing old friends. I’m gonna miss you down here Grandma but I know one day I’ll have the chance to give you a hug again.  Rest in Paradise Grandma.

Loved traveling with Janet, cousin Judy, Jam  and Amelia.  Janet always had her bag of quarters ready for "chicken shit". Our favorite card game. I will miss her.

Janet you were my best friend ever, I’m going to miss our phone calls every week, but I’ll be having our talks still everyday, I’m so sad but I know you will be partying with dick and Sharon,      Rest in peace my friend, I love you very much. Love Carla

I will miss Janet forever. We were friends and traveling companions for nearly 60 years . We spent a lot of time with our friends dining out playing cards going to movies, just having a lot of fun together. I was lucky to spend time with Janet near the end and will Always be grateful for that time to be with her and her incredible loving family. Rest in peace, my dear dear Janet love you, Judy.
