Survived by his Son Scot King, wife Roxanne King, Daughter Nicole McCalmont, husband Bob McCalmont, Grandchildren Derik Fields, Alexa Fields, Christina McCalmont, Alyssa McCalmont, Alina King, Aubrey King and Bryce King.
Bud was born in La Habra, California to Wilberta and Latham Ellis, had a brother David(deceased)and was later adopted by Chet King.
Shortly after graduating from La Habra High School in 1961, he attend junior college and he later enlisted in The United States Air Force in 1963. Upon successful completion of the Air Force Academy he was sent to locations in Europe, including Turkey, Greece and then back to California. Bud served a four year enlistment and completed his duties at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, CA in 1967. Here is where he met and married Kathleen Robino mother to Scot and Nicole.
Shortly after being married, Bud applied for and was accepted into the California Highway Patrol. He completed the academy in Sacramento, CA and was first on patrol in El Centro, CA.
He transferred to the San Bernardino office and then to Riverside, where he spent several years. He was the Public Information Officer and did many outreach programs at schools, colleges, the old Riverside Raceway and at other locations with several of his photographs being submitted to the CHP Magazine.
His career would wait for several years as he and Kathleen divorced. Bud was focused on being involved in his children’s lives. Always showing up for baseball and soccer games, Nicole’s beauty pageants, parades, and many of the school functions. Many vacations were spent camping up the coast at Lime Kiln State Park, at Kings Canyon, and some memorable trips to Lake Powell. Many trips were made down to Dana Point Harbor to spend time on his boat.
As Scot and Nicole entered into High School he advanced his career by being promoted to Sergeant and was transferred to the East Los Angeles Office for a short while and then to his dream location at the San Juan Capistrano Office.
This is where he met the love of his life Carol. Bud and Carol were married April 4, 1992, and lived in Laguna Niguel until he retired after 32 years of dedicated service to the people of The State of California.
After retirement they moved to Henderson, Nevada and spent the better part of his retirement going on cruises, touring Europe and enjoying life together. Their love was beautiful. Carol was an amazing cook, seamstress and quilter. Carol passed away June 12, 2023, and is survived by her two daughters Lauren and Rebecca.
In 2025 Bud relocated from Henderson, NV to California to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
