Annie Pearl (Cooper) Shelton of Nacogdoches passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at Nacogdoches Medical Center at the age of 88 years, 1 month, and 12 days. She was born June 8, 1930, in San Augustine County to parents Oliver and Vassie (Skipper) Cooper.
Annie was a longtime member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed sitting outside watching her grandchildren play or open presents on Christmas. She was a hardworking woman who worked in the fields as a young lady. Some of her hobbies were crocheting, quilting, shelling peas, and shucking corn.
Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, A.J. Shelton; son, Billy Michael Shelton; sister, Dora Alma Cooper; and brothers, S.L. Cooper, Thomas Cooper, Robert Cooper, and James Cooper.
She is survived by her sisters, Lena Chancelor and husband Don and Verna Smith; daughters, Margaret Cash and Gealice Smith and husband Roy; granddaughter, Sheila Fryar and husband David; grandson, Michael Smith; granddaughter, Jessica Wilcox; and great grandsons, Robert Fryar, Justin Fryar, Aaron Fryar, and Ryan Fryar.
A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2018, at Springhill Baptist Church in Nacogdoches County officiated by Pastor Don Chumley and Bro. Mike Murray. Interment will follow at Blackjack Cemetery.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation prior to the service beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the church.
