

Mrs. LaFour was born Dec. 20, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas, to parents Brown Shaver and Stella Hampton Shaver. She was a former resident of Anahuac and had lived in Nacogdoches the past 20 years. Mrs. LaFour was an active member of the First United Methodist Church as well as many other community groups and projects.
Her survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jana LaFour of Nacogdoches; daughters and son-in-law, Shelly and David Mitchell of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Laurie Ryan of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Kristen Chauncey and wife Gil, Stacie Garcia and husband Javier, Joshua Ryan, Travis Goodwin, Wade Goodwin and wife Morgan, Grant Goodwin, Ross LaFour, Tyler LaFour, and Hunter LaFour and wife Amanda; great-grandchildren, Gillian Ryan, Rico Garcia, Rosalyn Garcia, Raelyn Garcia, and Raphael Garcia, and “one on the way.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton LaFour, as well as her parents, Brown and Stella Shaver, and a sister, Dorothy Shaver.
Services are set for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, located at 201 E. Hospital Street in Nacogdoches. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will be greeting guests at 1:30 p.m. at the church's parlor with a light lunch reception.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.
