Betty Jane Lucas

Mrs. Lucas died Monday, May 9, 2011, in Nacogdoches. She was born July 9, 1938, to Edgar and Mary Kostal Duke.

Betty graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1956 and was retired from Moore Business Forms (RR Donnelly).

She was involved with her church which included traveling with church members on numerous mission trips. Betty assisted with the administration of the Nacogdoches Christian Academy. Betty loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. Most of all Betty loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Wayne Lucas of Nacogdoches, Cecil Lucas and wife Mary of Nacogdoches, Carl E. Lucas, Jr., and wife Nancy of Palestine; sister, Della Maler; brother, James Duke; grandchildren, Chris Lucas and wife Emily, Mendy Willaby and husband Jerry, Michael Lucas- Emerson, Cecil Lucas Jr. and wife Monica, Joseph Lucas, Jacob Lucas, and Brady Lucas; great-grandchildren, John Thomas Lucas, Karlie Irvin, Logan Lucas, Jaycee Willaby, Taylor Willaby, Aiden Lucas, and Kently Lucas; three step-great grandchildren, Ashton, Robert, and Rebecca.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ed Lucas; daughter-in-law, Lilly Lucas; sister, Margie Duke, and brother, Victor Duke.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Cason Monk-Metcalf, 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene Missions Fund, 211 SE Stallings Drive., Nacogdoches, Texas 75964-6647.
