A longtime resident of Mount Enterprise, he was born in Nacogdoches County on May 7, 1937, to parents Joe Nolan and Bertie Mae Boles.
Billy served his country for over 23 years in the United States Army, joining in 1955 at the age of 18. He is a Purple Heart recipient who served a tour during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Boles worked as a prison guard for much of his life, retiring from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after 20 faithful years of service. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Tennessee Valley College.
Some of his hobbies were keeping up with his garden, raising chickens, and reading. He met his loving wife, Beverly, in August 1969 and they would marry the very next month. Billy loved his family very much, and he was always there for his wife and children. He would, however, be quick to let his children know if they had done wrong. He had a special place in his heart for his dog Mippie.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bertie Boles; and nephew, Robby Hays.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Beverly Boles; son, Nolan Boles and wife Katie; daughters, Frances Dunn and husband Douglas and Lola Boles; granddaughters, Mackenzie Utzman and husband Alden, Jacey Dunn, Natalie Dunn, Evelyn Boles, and Gracie Boles; grandson, William Boles; brother, William Boles and wife Artha; sisters, Mary Marshall, Jonell Busby, and Carolyn Hays and husband John; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf’s Sunset Chapel with Bro. Darrel Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Garrison.
