Billy was a graduate of Woden High School class of 1955. He worked at NIBCO for over 45 years as a machinist in the tool room. He had a good work ethic and loved his family and grandchildren. Billy would occasionally take great interest in building projects out of wood. Mostly different types of useful furniture. Billy liked math and he was good at calculating and keeping numbers straight. He was an avid basketball fan. He played in high school and could still out shoot grandkids in his 60”s.
In retirement years, he enjoyed playing “42”. He was good at his skills and was pleased to play dominoes for fund raisers for the fire department and school. Billy never met a stranger. He had many friends in his work world and in his community. He was known as “Pops” to many kids in the neighborhood. Billy loved to raise vegetable gardens and share his produce with friends and his community. He always worried about his kids and grandkids more than he did himself, even after he became very ill.
He was wise and concerned about the wellbeing of others. He would give his shirt off of his back if it would help someone. He was a great companion and good listener. His family will miss him greatly.
Billy’s family would like to give special thanks to the people who care for him in his final days. This will include Heart to Heart Hospice and Rock Haven Nursing Home.
