Cathy Jo Johnson

Cathy Jo, was born Jun 1, 1954, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Richard “Toke” Briley Sr. and Joyce Ann McCauley Tilley. She was also raised in childhood by her step father Fredrick Columbus Tilley.

Cathy, grew up as a military brat; her father Fred was in the US Air force. Cathy lived on several military bases throughout the United States. Cathy was a graduate of South Houston High School. She was also previously employed by M.C.I. as a Senior Account Specialist.

Cathy Jo meet the love of her life, Jimmy Johnson, in June 1972, 3 weeks later Cathy and Jimmy were married on July 3, 1974. They were happily married for 37 years. Cathy and Jimmy Johnson were blessed to have three children, Cammy Laniece Johnson-Garcia, Natalie Deshan Johnson, and Benjamin Rush Johnson. Moreover, Cathy also had two beautiful step children, Jimmy Aubrey Johnson and Stephanie Ly’Naye Johnson Fulcher. Cathy & Jimmy also took pride in raising their grandson Tyler Austin Williams.

Cathy was an avid reader; she read over 10,000 books. She also loved to sew; she handmade all her grandbabies Christening gowns. She also made many hand smocked dresses for her 4 granddaughters. She loved to cook and loved to be surrounded by her friends and family in the kitchen. Cathy was a great daughter, wife, mother, granny, and friend.

Cathy is survived by: Father, Fredrick Columbus Tilley of Lufkin, Texas, Brother, Richard and Sylvia Briley Jr. of Vandalia, Illinois, Brother, Mark Anthony Tilley of Cleveland, Texas, Husband, Jimmy Larry Johnson of Chireno, Texas, Daughter, Stephanie Johnson Fulcher of Pasadena, Texas, Daughter and Son, Victor & Cammy Garcia of Katy, Texas, Daughter, Natalie Deshan Johnson of Diboll, Texas, Son and Daughter, Benjamin Rush Johnson & Amanda Ann Johnson, of Chireno, Texas; 12 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren

Cathy was preceded in Death by: Father Richard “Toke” Briley Sr. of Chireno, TX, Mother, Joyce McCauley Tilley of Lufkin, TX

Brother, Tommy Foster Tilley of Etiole, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Greg Briley, Richard Briley III, Jake Chesire, Randy Grimes, Roger Grimes, Foster Tilley.
