

Charles was born on February 7, 1934 in Fairbanks, Texas, to Marzee Ophelia Jeter and Eugene Franklin Griswold. Charles lived most of his life in Houston. Charles served in the United States Army as a Gunnery Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.
He was married to his wife Edith for 59 years. They were married on June 7, 1957. He was the father of four children.
For numerous years he worked as a Cement Mason in the construction industry. He was an active member of his church and loved the Lord.
Charles is survived by his wife Edith; son Charles Griswold and his wife Joyce; son Gene Griswold and his wife Janet; and daughter Lisa Fleming; his 6 grandchildren, Melinda Griswold Reese and her husband Derek Reese, Jennifer Griswold, Jonathan Fleming, Kelsey Griswold, Jessica Griswold, and Emily Fleming. His sister Dolores Bass; his brother David Griswold; sister-in-law Susie Martin and Tommy Martin also survive him along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, J.D. Williams Sr. and Faye Williams; his brother-in-law, J.D. Williams Jr.; and his son, Kevin Griswold.
Charles loved the Lord, his family, and friends. He will be missed dearly.
Funeral services are set for 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf's Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 5127 North Street.
