Born July 13, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Nall had lived in Nacogdoches for a number of years. He retired from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he was a longtime professor of history.
Dr. Nall was also a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Nall, on June 23, 2009. His survivors include his son, Matthew Hayes Nall of Dallas, Texas.
Plans are pending for a memorial service to be held at a later date.
