Clara Belle Sanford

A Mass of Christian Burial for Clara Belle Sanford, 86, of Chireno will be held at 10:00 am Monday, January 17, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches, Texas with Monsignor James Young and Father Joseph Lourdusamy. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Chireno, Texas.

Clara Belle was born August 6, 1924 in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Jim Lee and Lottie Johnston Mora. Clara was one of eight children in the Mora Family.

Clara Belle loved her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed reading, baking and was an avid Astros, Rangers, Mavericks, and Rockets fan. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a descendent of early Nacogdoches County settlers dating back to the late 1700’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Farrell Gene “Teensie” Sanford; sisters, Bernadine Godwin, Lynn Brown, and Marilyn Russell; brother Clarence Mora.

Clara Belle is survived by her husband, Darel Gene Sanford; daughter, Debbie Gayle Byrd; son, Tommy Lynn Byrd and wife Robin; grandchildren, Ashley Byrd, Colin Byrd, Steven Byrd, Chris Byrd, Brittany Sanford Broadway, Myles Sanford Broadway; sisters, Charlcye Kenner, and Elizabeth Fountain; brother, Gerald Mora and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Brown, David Sargent, Quinn Godwin, Mike Rusk, J.T. Williams, and Jerry Brown.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
