Mr. Clifford Wayne Perkins “CW”, 83, of Nacogdoches passed away in Clear Lake, Texas, on November 29, 2015. He was born in Nacogdoches County on November 7, 1932, to parents, O.B. and Mary Etta Perkins.
CW is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Juanita Johnson and Christine Jones; and brothers, Travis Billingsley and Linville Perkins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Frances Perkins; son, Gerald Perkins and Donna; daughter, Carolyn Perkins Mann and husband Billy; grandchildren, Brandy Krahn and husband Kevin, Beverly Janak and husband Jon, Jarrod Perkins, and Lauren Perkins; great-grandchildren, Rhylie Krahn, Brayden Krahn, Reid Janak, and Gage Janak; brothers, Allen Ray Perkins and wife Olena, Bill Perkins and wife Marsha, Jerry Perkins and wife Lois Marie, and Johnny Perkins; sister, Joyce Mason and husband Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
Clifford was a graduate of Nacogdoches High School. After graduation he joined the United States Army and served his country for 2 years. At the age of 22, after several attempts he finally got Frances to say “Yes” and they married. He began his career as a Nacogdoches Patrolman. He served many communities including Nacogdoches, Center, and Henderson. In 1967, he went to work as a Special Agent for Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission in Beaumont. Later, he moved to Bay City and continued to work for 14 years. CW returned to Nacogdoches where he served his final 8 years and completed 33 years of service in Law Enforcement in 1993.
There are many things you could say about Clifford but you could definitely say that he was a good provider for his family and he loved his job. When he retired you might find him fox hunting or teaching his family about nature, which was his second love. He knew about every tree by its leaves, he respected nature and loved the outdoors. As his grandchildren blessed his life he looked forward to spending time with them. CW was affectionately known as Dad to his kids and Papa to his grandchildren. His family will miss him terribly but they look forward to the day they will see him again in the Promised Land.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
