

A funeral service for Denny Rex Hurst, 55, of Melrose, Texas, will be Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Bro. John Spurgeon officiating and Jim Prosperie assisting. Interment will follow at Maroney Cemetery, Nacogdoches County.
Denny died on July, 26, 2010 in Melrose, Texas. He was born September 2, 1954, to his late parents, Berte and MattieV Hurst.Denny was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches and a graduate of Nacogdoches High School. After working at various jobs he found an opportunity at NIBCO, were he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor for over 27 years. Denny was a lifelong hunter and freshwater fisherman. He
coached Fast Pitch Softball for the girls’ teams for many years and was a member of the Melrose Baptist Church. Denny loved life, he loved to laugh, and spend time with his kids and grand-kids. He was a family man who loved helping others. He collected guns and was an accomplished gunsmith. Denny enjoyed spending time with his beloved, Becky and doing special projects with her. He often brought her flowers. Denny was a good hearted man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Denny is survived by his wife Becky; daughters, Jennifer Johnson and husband Cory of Nacogdoches, Shelley Mason and husband Mark of Tyler Texas, Heather Hurst of Nacogdoches; and step-son, Clay Hardeman of New Jersey; and step-daughter, Regina Acosta and husband Jason of Nacogdoches, Texas. Denny is also survived by grandsons, Jeremy Dempsey, Taylor Dempsey, Casey Johnson; and granddaughters, Mattie Johnson, Alyse Rodrigues, and Ashlyn Mason; and step-grand daughter, Sydney Acosta; and was anticipating the arrival of a new grandson, Braston Brewer, two brothers, Tom Hurst and wife Elaine and Ronald Hurst and wife Ann, all of Nacogdoches; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harrison and Marlon Hurst; and sister-in-law, Glenna Hurst.
Memorial donations may be offered to: American Diabetes Association, 1600 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 and Maroney Cemetery Fund ,1628 Shelton Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
