

Dorothy Jean (Boggan) Miller passed away on Saturday, January 31 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Dorothy was born November 5, 1947, to Dorothy Frances (Flora) Boggan and Robert H. Boggan in Quitman, Mississippi. She was the youngest of 5 children. After graduating high school, she attended Saint Dominic’s School of Nursing.
Dorothy met and married the love of her life, Charles Ray Miller, on September 7, 1968. Together they raised two children, Heath Ray Miller and Heather Renee (Miller) Chambers. She enjoyed camping with her family, sewing, cooking, and watching her kids participate in multiple extra-curricular activities.
During this time Dorothy worked as a Registered Nurse. Her career spanned over 3 decades in specialties including: med-surgery, intensive care, emergency medicine, post-anesthesia care, management and eventually administration. She served as Chief Nursing Officer of Citizen’s Medical Center in Victoria, Texas for approximately 20 years.
Dorothy loved the Lord God with all her heart and soul. She was the epitome of a servant leader and was a friend to everyone she met. Her passing was a release from the pain and suffering of this world, and her family knows she is at peace with her heavenly father.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Boggan, and older sister Doris Boggan.
She is survived by her husband Charles Miller of Nacogdoches, TX, her son Heath Miller and wife Susan of Kileen, TX, daughter Heather Chambers and husband Brandon Chambers of Nacogdoches, TX, as well as her 5 grandchildren Nathan Chambers of Fort Worth, TX, Brooke Miller of Kileen, TX, Taylor Chamber of Farmers Branch, TX, Blake Miller of Pflugerville, TX and Logan Chambers of Nacogdoches, TX. She is additionally survived by her 2 older sisters, Lecta Gardner, Marvis McDaniel, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Enhabit Home Health, Three Oaks Hospice, and Nancy Whitehead, RN, for their care and compassion.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 5-7pm at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors in Nacogdoches, TX. Funeral services will take place at Cason Monk-Metcalf on Thursday February 5, 2026, at 10am, followed by a brief graveside service at Concord Community Cemetery in Zavalla, TX.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Association.
Serving as pallbearers will be son Heath Miller, son in law Brandon Chambers, Kenny Wagner, as well as grandsons, Nathan Chambers, Blake Miller, and Logan Chambers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
