

Mr. Stanley was born August 1, 1942, in Hemphill, Texas, to parents Paul M. Stanley and Opal (Wyatt) Stanley. He had worked as a welder for Lufkin Industries Inc. and later retired as a supervisor for the water department of the City of Lufkin following several years of service.
Doug was an avid outdoorsman, finding great joy in hunting and fishing.
Southern gospel music was dear to Doug's heart. He and his wife, the late Maridee Stanley, were singers with the Hearts of Compassion. They participated in singings, events, and services throughout the area with other groups, including relatives with the The Stanleys.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maridee Stanley, on November 29, 2013. Also preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Ricky Stanley; granddaughter, Stephanie Burns; sisters, Faye Ward and Diann Stanley; and brothers, Wayne Stanley, Darwin Stanley, and Paul Stanley Jr.
His survivors include his daughters, Kelley Stanley of Chireno, Texas, and Michelle Stanley of Channelview, Texas; grandchildren, Stephen Burns Jr., Kaitlyn Fair, Ashley Fair, Alex Fair, Amber Stanley, Ricky Stanley, and Kaitlyn Stanley; sisters, Carolyn Downey, Adelle Stanley, and Wanda Ward; and brothers, Kenneth Stanley, James Stanley, and Michael Stanley.
Funeral services have been set for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Cason Monk-Metcalf's Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas. Officiating will Bro. Cary Modisett of Shawnee Church of Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
