

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler with Rev. Daryl Dunks officiating . Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Interment will be in the Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery, in Henderson.
She was born on November 29, 1911, in Henderson to John E. Wade and Bertha Mae Parr. She grew up in Henderson and married Robert Preston McKnight on June 14, 1943.
Mrs. McKnight graduated from Henderson High School in 1930, received BA Degree from Sam Houston State University in 1937 and received M.E. Degree from East Texas State University in 1956. She taught for 42 years, including Henderson, Jefferson Elementary, and 21 years in the Tyler Independent School System, Jones Elementary School from which she retired in 1977.
After retiring from the school system, Mrs. McKnight volunteered for ETMC for over 30 years working at the ETMC Information Desk computer greeting guests and visitors and locating patients. Miss Eva as she was affectionately known said working at ETMC "kept me moving and motivated, because some of my best friends are here!"
She was a member of the Green Acres Baptist Church since it was established and sang in the Highest Praise Senior Adult Choir.
She is survived by two sons, Bob McKnight and wife Janice of Nacogdoches, Bill McKnight of Whitehouse, Tennessee . Grandsons, Roger McKnight, Wes McKnight, and Wade McKnight and Brandon McKnight and one sister, Laneese Crim of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Preston, on August 31, 1952, her parents, nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. Local arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches, Texas.
