Harry Albert Webster, Jr., age 88, of Nacogdoches, Texas passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 in Nacogdoches. He was born September 24, 1935, in Lubbock, Texas to parents Harry Albert Webster and Vallie (Bright) Webster.
Harry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a machinist and supervisor at NIBCO, where he retired after 53 years. He was a member of First Christian Church for 84 years.
His father passed away when Harry was 4. He returned from the Navy at the age of 22 to continue caring for his two younger brothers after the untimely death of his mother. He married Linda in 1963, and they had two children together, Valerie and Amy. He remained in Nacogdoches where he enjoyed many outdoor adventures with his best friend and confidant, Tom “Bo” Power.
Harry was known by many by his nickname, “Huck,” which comes from Huckleberry Finn. This nickname was given to him as a child from Tom’s mother as she always witnessed Tom and Harry walking barefoot, riding horses, and trying to stay out of trouble.
Some of Harry’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening, and enjoying the outdoors. He raised and trained birddogs for competitive field trials in his early adulthood. He enjoyed do-it-yourself projects including welding and carpentry. There was nothing he could not fix. He had a love of animals, especially his horses and dogs.
So often when referring to Harry it was said, “They broke the mold when he was made.” He was so generous, loyal, thoughtful, altruistic, and overall a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He will be greatly missed.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda L. Webster; brothers, Daniel Henry Webster and James Webster; and grandson, Blake Webster Bowne.
He is survived by his daughters, Valerie K. Bright and Amy C. Meza and husband Omar; grandchildren, Maci C. Bowne and James W. Meza; nieces, Jeannie Albers and husband John and Dana Bonelli and husband Damon; nephews, David Dalby and Wesley Webster; special friend, Glenda Lilly; and his dog, Diesel.
