James is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Smith; and most recently his loving wife, Carol Foxworth. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Foxworth and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James was a loving fellow with a great sense of humor. He saw everyone as a new friend and couldn’t resist ribbing or joking with every person he met. He was laid back, and didn’t let too much bother him.
He and Carol met during high school, he fell in love with her, and loved her everyday she was on this earth. After graduation from Liberty High School in 1962, he joined the United States Army and served 3 years, including a combat deployment during the Dominican Civil War. He received several letters from Carol and when he returned in August 1965, they decided to marry in November of that year. They were married 50 years, and he brought her coffee nearly every morning of those years. He worked for Kranco, an overhead crane company that later became KoneCranes. He was a good provider and steady in his work. Once he retired, they enjoyed watching game shows together every morning, and playing tabletop games every afternoon including cards, yahtzee and dominoes (his favorite). He liked to bowl and play golf, while his favorite sports to watch were football and baseball.
He was a committed member of Westway Baptist Church, and really enjoyed his time teaching Sunday school. He spent time on several committees including budget and financing, pastor search committee, and was a faithful deacon.
When James had some extra free time he enjoyed cooking, movies, and being at home with the girls. He liked gardening--growing tomatoes, peppers, and roses of different colors every year. James was sweet and sensitive to the needs of his family. They knew that he loved them not only by his words but by his good deeds. He will surely be missed.
