

Mr. Sparks was born December 19, 1936, in Nacogdoches County to parents Sam and Lizzie Mae (Turner) Sparks and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of University Baptist Church and retired from Nibco after several years of faithful service as a machinist.
His survivors include his wife of 52 years, Linda Anette Sparks of Nacogdoches; son, Stanley Sparks of Durango, Colorado; daughters, Tammy Gibson and husband Andy of Nacogdoches and Michele Muse of Dallas; grandchildren, Jaclyn Stewart and husband Jason, Jennifer Metcalf and husband Shane, and Courtney Flynn, all of Nacogdoches, and Ethan Muse and Erin Muse, both of Dallas; step-grandchildren, Abby Taylor and Matt Gibson, both of Nacogdoches; great-grandchildren, Bailey Adams, Jackson Stewart, and Taylor Stewart, all of Nacogdoches; step-great-grandchildren, Grey Taylor and Finn Taylor, both of Nacogdoches; and sisters, Joyce Box, Barbara Looney, and Julia Johnson, all of Nacogdoches.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Johnie V. Sparks.
Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, with Bro. Dock Lazarine officiating. Interment will follow at Old Prospect Cemetery in Rusk County.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
Pallbearers will be Andy Gibson, Jason Stewart, Shane Metcalf, Bryon Strong, Chris Lockard, and Howard Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be Horace Strong and Bryan Carpenter.
