Many of us knew her as Granny or Aunt Ginny and remember her for her feistiness but also for her deep love of others. She was proceeded in death by both of her Husbands, Adrian Rodgers and George Grasso, her Parents and her two older Brothers, Fee and Sunny and Fee’s loving wife Dink, as well as her stepson, David Rodgers and Grandson, Joey Rodgers.
She is survived by three of her step-children, six Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and extended family as well as many friends who will miss her dearly.
Granny could be rough sometimes, but she would tell you that she was raised with Boys and grew up working right alongside of them. She loved being in the woods, hunting and fishing and hanging out around the bonfire, but she also loved the dress up times when she got to wear pretty clothes and go out dancing with AJ. She loved to dance and cook and play cards and until she got too tired to go many places she loved to play poker every week, travel and go see her friends and family or take a cruise somewhere. Granny was always up to go wherever you wanted to go. Like a child, she would get an excitement in her eyes, and it always lifted her spirit to have a trip to look forward to.
For many years, Granny worked outside the home doing tax work and accounting. When she retired to take care of A.J. full time, she got involved with her community and served as the Secretary to the Civic Center, making things better for the Seniors in her neighborhood. They provided food and assistance and hosted events for the elderly, so they had someone checking on them all the time. That was important to her, that those in need, did not feel forgotten. Granny loved her Club events and parties and could not wait to tell us all about what they ate and what prizes she won. Until her passing, Granny was still on the Board with the Civic Center and there has been such an outpouring of love and condolences from all of them.
Mr. George was Granny’s second Husband, a Yankee from New York and He was proud of it. We all thought it was a strange match, but they loved each other, and George spoiled Granny for the first time in her life. He was funny and smart and quick witted. They sparred like competitors sometimes but even then they would end up laughing and hugging each other. Mr. George passed in August of 2024, and we promised Granny that we would include him in her service today. She loved him and did not want him to be forgotten either. We know He greeted her at the gates of Heaven, and she was longing over her last few days to be reunited with him and AJ and finally see her Jesus. And if all dogs really do go to Heaven, Benji and Casey were there, too. I know she loved that!
Granny loved Jesus and she was a strong believer in prayer and the comfort God provides. We pray comfort for all of you during this time. We miss her and will continue to miss her and her calls. Remember her for the good stuff and her big hugs and soft heart. Remember how much she loved each of you and know that she is right here with you, just a smile away, when you need her.
