

Funeral services for Martin Everett Clark, 90-years-old, will be held Monday, November 15, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates, Cooper, & Sloan Funeral Chapel, Hwy. 271 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Interment will follow at Macon Cemetery.
Martin Clark was the son of Benjamin Cleveland and Mary Elizabeth Wiggins Clark, born September 1, 1920, in Lovelady, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945. He was a World War II veteran serving on the USS San Juan CL54 light cruiser. He married Gracie Lee Conarroe in 1944. Martin was ordained to preach in 1955 and ministered for 30+ years, pastoring various churches in Texas, Louisian, and Alabama. During these years he was active in the General Conference of the Congregational Methodist Church. After he retired from pastoral work, the family settled in Nacogdoches, Texas. Although he was a member of the New Hope Nacogdoches Congregational Methodist Church, he often supplied surrounding churches that were in need of a preacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Clark; brothers, James Atmar Clark and Benny Frank Clark; and granddaughter, Bridgett Miranda Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gracie of Mt. Vernon, Texas; a son, Horace Wayne Clark and his wife Sharon of Mt. Vernon, Texas, and their children, Spencer and Angela; and 2 daughters, Melba Jean Pahal and her husband Wade of San Augustine, Texas, and his children, Shawn and Mindy; and Donna Fay Hinsley and her husband Ron from Longview, Texas, and her children, Traci, Becky, and Kevin; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law, Rosalie Clark of Pasadena, Texas, and Frances Clark of Cypress, Texas.
Officiating ministers for the funeral service will be Rev. Barbara Campbell, Rev. Ned Chipley, and Rev. Jerry Jones. Pallbearers will be Daniel Ramsey, Jonathan Ramsey, Lance Anderson, Kevin McPhearson, Roger McPhearson, Spencer Clark, Branden Lane, and Skipper Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be men of New Hope Congregational Methodist Church of Nacogdoches.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 14, 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Bates, Cooper, & Sloan Chapel in Mt. Pleasant.
