Tempie Pearl Rambin Meador was born November 1, 1939 to Jule and Belma Tindall Rambin of Garrison, TX. Pearl attended Garrison High School where she met and then married the love of her life, Forrest Lee, in June, 1958. They celebrated 53 wedding anniversaries together before he passed away in 2012. Pearl and Forrest have one son, Michael.
During their marriage, Pearl and Forrest Lee owned and operated several businesses in the Appleby area. The most recognizable being Meador’s Grocery and Catfish Buffet. Pearl’s banana pudding was legendary with their customers. The entire family enjoyed serving and working with the public as you would often find Pearl, Forrest Lee, Michael, daughter-in-law, Stacey as well as grandchildren, Chase and Maci bussing tables, filling tea glasses, and making sure everything was up to the Meador’s high standards.
A lifelong member of the Nacogdoches Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star, Pearl was proud to have earned her 50 year service Award in 2013.
Pearl was competitive in her beloved bowling and forty-two playing. Her bowling team and domino partners in Garrison, Appleby, Cushing and Nacogdoches were a constant source of entertainment and companionship. She was a spirited supporter of the Central Heights activities where her grandchildren attended school but she followed Garrison High School football with equal joy. She loved her role as “Grandmother” at the many softball, basketball and FFA activities over the years.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Alice Merle Rambin; husband, Forrest Lee Meador; brother, Doyle Rambin; nephew, Donnie Rambin; brothers-in-law, Billy Joe Shipley and Ben Wright as well as her Mother and Father-in-Law, Melba and Percy N. Meador.
Pearl is survived by her son, Michael Meador and wife Stacey of Appleby; grandson, Chase Meador of Appleby; granddaughter, Maci Meador of Carthage, TX; her sisters, Earline Shipley and Virginia Reneau (husband, Earl) of Nacogdoches; nephews, David Shipley of Waco, TX; nieces, Sheri Howard of Nacogdoches and Valerie Hoffpauir and husband Dwayne of Manvel, TX; and several great nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors.
