

A Memorial Service will be conducted by Dr. Jerry Jones and Rev. Chris Legg at 3:30 pm, Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Sunset Brown Memorial Gardens in Northport, Alabama.
Pernie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Holland Legg; and six brothers and sisters.
She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Ann Kling and husband Larry of Foley, Alabama; son, Michael H. Legg and wife Hettie of Nacogdoches, TX; grandchildren, Jenny Johns, Chris Legg; seven great grandchildren; brother, Spurgeon Hampton and wife Lorraine of Tampa, Florida; sister, Linn Gregory of North Carolina and a host of nieces nephews and cousins.
Pernie was a graduate of Double Springs High School in Double Springs, AL. She received her Master degree in Education from The University of Alabama. She was a teacher at heart. Pernie was a proper lady who believed in good principles and good work ethic. She was a classy dresser. Pernie took being a role model seriously and was very involved in the life of her family and school. Mrs. Legg loved teaching first graders and when she retired she faithfully worked in the nursery at church into her 90’s. Pernie was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Northport, Alabama and Nacogdoches Community Church.
