Following his graduating from high school, Raymond joined the United States Navy. His military occupation was in the Aviation Electronic Program where he was engaged in repairing the navigational systems, communications and later on the radar systems on the large naval carriers. He served on the USS Lexington, USS Saratoga, the USS Oriskany and the USS Ticonderoga. Then he was later promoted to being an instructor of the Avionics and Electronics for the incoming seamen. Here they enjoyed their hobbies—Linda with visiting Art shows, painting and sewing stuffed animals; Raymond with his many boats which included speed boats (after all he was in the Navy) and pontoon boats where he enjoyed fishing. They also were happy to have their two little canines, Andy and Skipper. Skipper just recently passed as well.
