

He was born July 18, 1926, in Nacogdoches to parents James R. Aiken and Cora G. Boozer Aiken. His love for raising cattle and working the land was only surpassed by his love for the Lord and his family. Along with his passion for working outdoors, he was dedicated to the eradication of invasive weeds on the land he loved to tend.
A graduate of Woden High School, he served in the U.S. Army as Private First Class with the 71st Signal Service Battalion stationed in Tokyo, Japan. After being honorably discharged with a date of separation being February 5, 1947, and receiving the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal, he worked 32 years for Texas Power & Light (TP&L).
He was an active member of Fairview Church and served on the Fairview Church Board of Directors. Along with sitting on the Fairview Cemetery Committee, he helped with the stewardship of the cemetery grounds.
He is survived by his sons, Mike, Max, and Gary Aiken, all of Nacogdoches; siblings, John & Betty Aiken of Garrison; wife, June Aiken of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Mark and Coty Aiken, both of Tarkington, and Chris Aiken of Nacogdoches; great-grandchildren, Kaydence Grace & Gunner Lathan Aiken of Tarkington; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Cora Aiken, and his daughter-in-law, Shelah Aiken.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Cason Monk-Metcalf.
Pallbearers include Mark Aiken, Coty Aiken, Chris Aiken, Hyman Boozer, Bill Ross, and Tony Dawson. Honorary pallbearers include Morris Boozer, Gerald Gresham, Charlie Muckleroy, Robert Scott, Mike Puttman, and Sam Cain.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches.
