Rodger Allan Thompson was born August 26, 1968 in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, the son of Frances Rodger Thompson and Charlotte (Dannar) Thompson. He passed from this life on March 3, 2024, in Llano, Texas at the age of 55 Years 6 months and 7 days.
Being from a military family, Rod was moved around the world extensively as a child, attending many different schools, active in many different activities and gathering many friends along the way. He played Little League Baseball as a young boy and had a golden glove. He went on to play tennis which was a sport of his choice, and grew into a deep love of Motorcycles and golf with his friends. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School and attended SFA for a short time, but his heart pulled him back to join the Marine Corps. He excelled in the service to his country, moved up in rank quickly and was decorated for many things including Marine of the Year at the Marine Corps base in Dothan, Alabama. He spent 7 years with the USMC, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and then decided to return to school. He graduated from SMU with a degree in International Business, having spent one semester as an exchange student in Copenhagen, Denmark. Here he met the love of his life. He and Elin Reuter were married and settled down in Denmark. Here Emma was born and Rod went on to get his Masters Degree in International Marketing from Copenhagen University. He worked for a number of years with new “start-up” businesses, orchestrating their business practices, but Rod’s true love remained with automobiles and his curious nature made him want to know how they really worked. So a few years ago he went back to school in Austin to learn automobile mechanics. At the same time, he enjoyed working with tow trucks, buying cars, trucks and motorcycles to restore and sell, and operating his car dealership in Burnet, Texas. He was also active with the veterans in the area as well as his church. He had a heart to help people and was instrumental in getting many back on a positive path as well as active in men’s bible study.
Rodger is survived by his daughter, Emma Thompson of Denmark, his mother Charlotte Partin, sister Donna Thompson Baldinell and her daughter Isabelle (University of Arkansas), one brother Chasen Partin, one step-sister Kelly Tatman, all of Nacogdoches, Texas, one step-brother Gary Berry of Southern California, and nieces and nephews.
