

Alvin Thomas Scroggins was born September 30, 1930, and passed from this world on November 24, 2024, having attained the age of 94 years 1 month and 6 days. He was a native of Nacogdoches. Tom was the son of Wilmer Scroggins and Minnie Bell (Stephens) Scroggins.
After Tom graduated from high school, he went on to graduate from HVAC Tech school. He then worked his whole life in construction. And even his hobbies included working in woodcrafts. Tom’s life had come to center around driving down to the “country corner store” every morning for a cup of coffee and attending the “fish fries” on Fridays with his friends. He was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church. Tom served 4 years with the United States Air Force and was active during the Korean War.
He is survived by Brother, Melvin Scroggins; Sister, Joan Meziere; Daughter, Karen Evans and her children: grandson, Joseph Sanders and wife Holly (great grandsons, Hayden & Hudson Sanders and great great grandchild, Haisley Sanders); grandson, Coy Sanders (great granddaughter, Paige Sanders); granddaughter, Stacy Matuza and husband Randy (great grandsons, Clayton Whitaker & Rylan Matuza); granddaughter, Megan Evans (great grandson, Theo Evans); Daughter, Elaine Hemphill and her children: granddaughter, Amanda Russell & husband Jarod (great granddaughter, Aubrey Russell); and Daughter, Angela Scroggins.
He is predeceased by his Wife, Joyce M. Scroggins (8/22/2017) and his Daughter, Deborah Scroggins (4/21/2023).
A time of Visitation will be for family and friends on Saturday, November 30th at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Home, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 1st at 2:00 P.M. in the Trinity Baptist Church. Pastor David Coleman will officiate. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.
