

Born November 19, 1923, in Oil City, Louisiana, to parents Eddy Ross Kirk and Mary Etta Johnson Kirk, he moved as a youth with his family to Garrison.
A World War II veteran, he served with the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines. Mr. Kirk worked as a machinist while living in Houston for 43 years. He retired in 1986 and soon moved back to Garrison. He was affiliated with the Baptist church.
He was married to Huelean Copeland on December 13, 1947, in Garrison. She preceded him in death on September 6, 1997. Mr. Kirk was also preceded in death by his parents.
His survivors include his children: daughter, Mary Huelean Turner Powell of Garrison, Texas; son, Wade Glenn Kirk and wife Sandy of Timpson, Texas; daughter, Patricia Lynn Powell and husband George of Houston, Texas; daughter, Betty Louise fain of Garrison, Texas; and daughter, Mildred Jo Johns and husband Joel of Etoile, Texas. Survivors also include a sister, Ester Beard of Timpson, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Services will begin at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow with military rites at Cold Springs Cemetery, located on FM 95 in Garrison, Texas.
