

She was born in Wood County, Ohio on February 26, 1926; she was the daughter of the late Henry and Erna (Wilkens) Koster, Sr. On September 5, 1943, Maria married Donald F. Lange, who preceded her in death on March 30, 1972.
Maria retired from Patrick Henry Schools where she worked in the cafeteria and was also a bus driver for 25 years. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Hamler where she was a member of the Women of the Church and a former Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting and school events, sewing, crocheting, embroidering, baking cookies, as well as sending greeting cards to her many friends and relatives.
Maria is survived by sons, Donald (Betty) of Archbold and Jonathan (Kim) of Hamler; daughters, Cynthia (Kenneth) Drewes of Napoleon and Sandra (Daniel) Rathge of Toledo; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great-granchildren; sister Elizabeth (Victor) Borstelman; brother Fred (Elverna) Koster; brother-in-law Melvin Tietje; sisters-in-law Dorothy Rettig and Anna (Paul) Stockman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brother Henry Koster, Jr.; sisters Johanna Koster, Erika Fedderke, and Madonna Tietje.
A celebration of Maria’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Hamler with Pastor Sharon Stonerock, officiating. Burial will be in Hope/St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Hamler.
Friends may call at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to services at the church.
The family requests that memorials be given to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
