Ana M. Torres was born on January 6, 1942, in Allende, Coahuila de Zaragoza, Mexico, to her parents Casimiro and Eulalia Valdez. She was married to the love of her life, Irving Rios Torres, Sr., for 62 years, and he survives her.
Ana spent most of her life in Homestead, FL and New London, WI, and lived her final three years in Crestview, FL. She was the proud mother of six children: Diana, Gloria (married to Trinidad), Irving Jr., Manuel, Melvin, and Ivan (married to Letticia). Her legacy continues through 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Ana was the third of 13 siblings. She is survived by her sisters Lupe, Licha, Nina, Rosa, Josie, Chavela, Oralia, and Cici. She was predeceased by her brothers Juan, Chimiro, Tony, and sister Lalie.
Anita was the heart of every gathering in her home, a joyful hostess who made everyone feel like family-whether they were kin or simply kindred spirits. She was deeply cherished by her many nieces, nephews, and countless others who were lucky enough to be embraced by her love.
She found joy in cooking beloved family recipes, tending to her garden, listening to music, and spending time in her sewing room-where she crafted, among other things, aprons that are now treasured keepsakes. Anita had a fondness for knick-knacks, treating every gift, no matter how small, as a precious token of love. And yes, she enjoyed a cold Bud Light during and after a long day in the kitchen.
Anita had a gift for turning strangers into friends. Her kindness, humor, and generosity made her a joy to be around. No one ever left her home hungry-or without a smile. Though small in stature, she had a giant heart and lived with remarkable strength and self-determination.
She loved so deeply that goodbyes often came with tears-whether at the end of a phone call or during a long hug. Now, it is our turn to cry. We will miss her immensely, remember her always, and remain forever grateful for the love she gave us during her 83 precious years.
