
He was born May 9, 1932, and would have celebrated his 82nd birthday Saturday.
At the age of four months, George moved to Homestead, FL, from Knob Noster, Missouri, with his father Virgil Marion Sprinkle (deceased) and his mother Mary Kay Sprinkle (deceased). He attended Homestead High School where he played on the school’s baseball and basketball teams and served as President of the Future Farmers of America Organization during his senior year. Upon graduation from Homestead High School, in 1950, he received a full agriculture scholarship to the University of Florida. After attending briefly, he chose to return to Homestead and pursue his love of farming in the family business. He served in the US Army where he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. After his Army service, he returned to Homestead, where he partnered with his father Virgil in the family business known as Sprinkle Farms. He was a successful businessman and owner of Sprinkle Farms, 4&1 Nursery, and High Hope Nursery,
George married Carolyn Grace Lounsbury on June 20, 1956. They were blessed with five children during their married years.
George is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Grace Sprinkle; daughters Cynthia Lynn Stone (Jeff) of Homestead, FL; Nancy Ann Davis (Rev. Huey) of Largo, FL; Lisa Lee Wheeler (Dennis) of Miami, FL; Judy Diane Armstrong of Niceville, FL; and son George C. Sprinkle, Jr. (Melissa) of Homestead, FL, sister Mary Helen Bruhn of Minneapolis, MN, Barbara Berry of Greenville, SC; Bettye Skiles of Indiana; Ruth Collins of Ocala, FL; Linda Watkins of Homestead, FL; and deceased sister Margaret Skiles. George was blessed with a legacy of descendants, 11 grandchildren: Anita (Kevin), Jeffrey (Amy), Ashley, Trey (Chelsea), Caroline, Jared, Will, Kate, Nathan, Hannah, and George III; as well as four great-grandchildren: Brason, Trevor, Brady and Dylan.
George attended First Baptist Church of Homestead and placed his love for The Lord as the priority of his life. One of his favorite expressions was, “God first, family second, and work next.”
