Michael Miguel Uzquiano, 85, a beloved father, grandfather, husband, uncle, brother, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Born on November 22, 1939, in Camagüey, Cuba, Miguel’s remarkable life journey was defined by courage, resilience, and generosity.

One of eleven siblings, Miguel grew up in a large, loving family that instilled in him strong values of loyalty, hard work, and faith. As a young man, he fled Cuba before the Castro regime, seeking freedom and opportunity in the United States. He began his new life in New York, where he studied agriculture—a field that would become both his livelihood and passion. Later, he moved to Homestead, Florida, alongside his sister and niece, where he built a successful farm and business. Through hard work, dedication, and vision, Miguel became a respected figure in the agricultural community, known for his integrity, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a hand to others.

Miguel was a man who lived life to the fullest, especially in his younger years. He loved new adventures, traveling, and sharing joyful moments with family and friends. He found joy in dominoes, a glass of cabernet wine, Canadian Club whiskey, a fine cigar, and lively dancing. He was also known for his quick wit and great sense of humor, bringing laughter and light to every gathering.

Family was the center of Miguel’s world. He created amazing family gatherings full of laughter, music, and dancing, where holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas were filled with joy, traditions, and festive music that everyone cherished. He is survived by his daughter, Anna Castro, and her husband, Spencer; his son, Kevin Uzquiano, and his wife, Erin; and his two cherished grandchildren, Sophia and Zander. He also remained very close to and deeply cared for his former wife, Ana Uzquiano the mother of his children, with whom he shared a lifelong bond of love and respect. Miguel leaves behind his loyal dog, Nico, his many brothers and sisters, and countless family members and friends who will forever remember his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.
