Thomas Mercer Torbert, Sr., 77, passed away September 8, 2014. Pop Tommy, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, had a generous and giving soul who would stop at nothing to help his family and friends. He was born on February 4, 1937 to Thomas M Torbert and Nellie Kirstine Strange in South Florida. He married the love of his life Peggy Sue Johnson Torbert on October 1, 1960. Tommy worked as a truck driver and in the produce industry for most of his life. He was an avid supporter and fan of Nascar racing and was a sponsor for the Goody’s Dash Series.
Tommy is preceded in death by his wife Peggy Sue. He is survived by his son Tommy (Michelle), his daughter Linda Sue (Jim) and 7 grandchildren whom he adored.
