Alice Eva Cormier

Alice Eva (Richard) Cormier, 94, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at her home in Hudson, New Hampshire. Alice had a large, loving family and many dear friends. Her sweet smile and gentle disposition were a blessing to all who knew her.

Alice is survived by her husband of 65 years, Raymond Cormier; her sisters, Lena Bouchard and Bertha Morin; her five sons, Richard, Douglas, Cameron, Bradford, and Clayton; and her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Alice, the youngest of nine children, was born in New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of the late Elizabeth and John Richard. Early in her life, her family moved to Gardner, Massachusetts where she graduated from Gardner High School and later met her dear Raymond.

In addition to being a loving mother and wife, Alice was an active participant in several of her husband’s successful business ventures. She and Raymond raised their children in Stoneham, Massachusetts and later moved to Salem, New Hampshire. Upon retiring, they moved to Ft. Lauderdale where Alice enjoyed playing tennis, walking the beach and boating on Raymond’s Grand Banks Trawler appropriately named “Five Sons.” Alice’s love of her family and her desire to be near them brought her back toNew Hampshire where she and Raymond settled in Hudson.

Alice enjoyed nature and her porch was her sanctuary in the Spring and Summer. She decorated it with flowers of every variety and laughed often at the antics of the squirrels at her bird feeders just beyond the screen door. Alice also enjoyed creating things of beauty and sparkle. She engaged in all types of craft activities and was constantly thinking of gifts to make for her family at Christmas, her favorite season of the year.

Visiting hours were held Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11:00am Friday in St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 W. Hollis St., Nashua, NH 03062. Interment was in the Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, MA.
