Arthur “Sonny” Lewis Fontaine, 81, of Nashua, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Born on November 29, 1941 in Nashua, he was the beloved son of the late Victor A. and Evelyn L. Fontaine (Cusson).
Sonny grew up in Nashua and was baptized in 1942 at St. Aloysius of Gonzaga Parish formerly known as St. Louis de Gonzague Church. He attended the Laconia State School until 1969 and moved back to his hometown of Nashua where he remained until his passing. He was an avid fisherman, loved gardening and crafts, working at the farmers market on Main St, and riding his beloved 3 wheel bike around town.
He is survived by his brother Ronald Fontaine and wife Doris of Nashua; sisters Joanne Kirkpatrick and husband Bruce of Laconia, Jacqueline Fontaine of Nashua, Suzanne Burton and husband Christopher of Litchfield, and Betty Ann Fontaine of Nashua; sister and brother-in-law Eva and Bob Francoeur of Merrimack; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his wife of 39 years Diana Lee Fontaine (Ricker); half sisters Elaine Lavoie and Yvonne Mellinger; and nephews Donald Descoteaux and Paul Descouteaux.
A visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, March 22 at Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home located at 26 Kinsley St, Nashua NH. A burial will take place at 11am on Thursday, March 23 at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery located at 32 Pinehill Ave, Nashua NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sonny may be offered to Home, Health and Hospice of Merrimack.
