

She was born in Gardiner, ME on September 24, 1950, the daughter of the late Herbert Seigars and Joan (Tarr) Seigars.
Catherine was a lifelong resident of Nashua. She was educated in the Nashua school system, graduating from Nashua High School. She then earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Rivier College. She was employed for many years as an RN at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, and most recently volunteered for the Red Cross. Catherine loved to bake, cook, read, often finishing a book a day; was very artistic and musical, enjoyed painting, and was an avid gardener. Catherine’s greatest love in life was her family; she enjoyed spending time with them, especially her 2 ½ year old granddaughter, Ayanna.
She is survived by her husband of thirty eight years, Evangelos Valeras of Nashua; her mother Joan Seigars of Greenfield, NH; two sons, Anthony Valeras of Nashua and Andrew Valeras and his wife Aimee of Concord, NH; a daughter, Marisa Valeras of Denver; two brothers, Carroll Seigars and his wife Diane of Wolfeboro, NH and Steven Seigars and his wife Kathleen of Greenfield; a sister, Linette Seigars of Greenfield; a granddaughter, Ayanna Valeras of Concord, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours were held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 4 PM to 8 PM at ZIS-SWEENEY FUNERAL HOME, 26 KINSLEY ST., NASHUA, NH 03060. A Funeral Service was held in the funeral home, officiated by, Bishop Kevin Gray and Fr. Alexopoulos Soterios. A second Visitation was held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 10 AM to 11:30AM. A Farewell Blessing was held in the funeral home at 11:30 AM, officiated by Fr. Tom Chininis. Burial will be private.
Cathy spent the last 35 years providing unconditional love and nurturing care to her beloved son Tony. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Anthony Valeras, c/o Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua, NH, 03060. All donations will be forwarded to the family in support of Cathy's wishes for Tony's continued in-home care.
