

Emmanuel “Manny” Demitri Venetos, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 60 on March 18th 2012. He was born April 24, 1951 in Leros, Greece, son of the late Maria and Demitrios Venetos. Manny was the youngest of 4 with three older sisters. He came to the states at a young age where his family eventually settled in Baltimore, MD.
Manny received a degree in Mechanical Engineering while living in Maryland. He was always interested in how things worked and was known for taking things apart, like various engines and putting them back together. As a young man he enjoyed fishing and riding around his native Island of Leros as well as throwing discus for his high school team. His love of cars, boats and motorcycles were known by most and he often invited close friends and family to enjoy in his hobbies whether for a bike ride or a cruise around the lakes of NH. Manny also loved photography and with his constant picture taking has left the family with many wonderful memories.
In the 1970’s he moved from MD to NH where he met and married Poppy Liakos on December 3rd 1978 at St. Philips Greek Orthodox Church in Nashua, NH in the town where they both lived and would raise their family. Manny is survived by his wife, Poppy Venetos, daughter Constantina Venetos , son Demitri Venetos, his three sisters; Irene Loukedes and her husband Stephen of Manchester, NH, Sophia Tsamouras and her husband Mike of Baltimore, and Evdokia Kokkonis of Leros, Greece. He is also survived by his mother in law; Evdoxia Liakos, sister in law; Fay Perakis and her husband George, brother in law; Thanasi C. Liakos and his wife Stephanie and their families including many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was a loving father and husband, always very involved in his kid’s lives whether it was coaching his son’s baseball team and taking him to football practice or driving his daughter to school dances and helping with science projects. He was a loving uncle and brother in law. Family meant everything to him. He loved his profession and enjoyed working as a Principal Engineer especially during his time at BAE systems. He was happy to see his son go to College and enroll in the Army ROTC. He was also happy to see his daughter get engaged to Kiriakos Tzortzis of Salem, MA on February 24th 2012. His most treasured times and proudest moments were spent with his family.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis St., Nashua. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua.
