Evelyn E. Carter Andrews

Evelyn E. (Carter) Andrews, 87, a resident of Nashua, NH passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Langdon Place of Nashua after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Boston, MA on January 18, 1924, the daughter of the late Harold L. and J. Ruthella (Sheldon) Carter of Derry, NH.

Evelyn was raised in Lynn, Ma and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1942. She married at the age of 19 to Albert B. Andrews, the love of her life until his passing in 1987. They lived in Peabody, MA for many years, where they raised four children. Evelyn will be remembered for her love of family, animals, music and humor. Primarily a homemaker to her family, she also enjoyed painting, crafts (ceramics), and movies. She had a love for music, which she felt to her soul and made her smile. Her favorite musician/actor was Frank Sinatra who she enjoyed meeting at a concert. All who was near to Evelyn felt her kindness, mothering ways and sense of humor. She was greatly loved wherever she went in life, even in her worst moments, with her progressing disease, Evelyn never said anything except she was a “happy camper”. She loved everyone equally and will be greatly missed. Her humor will carry on to all she touched.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the exceptional staff at Langdon Place of Nashua. They cared for her from the heart, went above and beyond, making sure she was happy right up until her last moment with them. They would also like to thank the staff at the Summerhill Assisted Living in Peterborough where Evelyn resided for many years and received wonderful care.

Evelyn is predeceased by her husband; Albert B. Andrews in 1987, a daughter; Carolyn (Andrews) Martucci in 2010 and a son-in-law, John A. Martucci in 2003.

She is survived by two sons; Richard H. Andrews of Charlotte, NC and Robert J. Andrews of Evans City, PA, a daughter; Janet E. Dubois of Nashua; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren and four nephews.

Calling hours were held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8PM at ZIS-SWEENEY FUNERAL HOME, 26 KINSLEY STREET, NASHUA, NH 03060. A Funeral Service was held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 10 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Puritan Memorial Park in Peabody, MA at approximately 1 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Evelyn’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
