Gertrude DeCrescenzo

Gertrude A. DeCrescenzo, 86, of Hudson, passed away on December 28, 2017. She was born in Gary, Indiana January 17, 1931, daughter of the late Adam and Stella (Bausha) Mitchess. Gertrude was very proud of her Lithuanian heritage, and traveled to Lithuania to research her ancestry, and she studied at the University of Vilnius. She was president of the Lithuanian Co-Op Cemetery in Nashua, a member of the Knights of Lithuania in Lawrence, MA, and was also a past officer. As an adult she would attend a Lithuanian camp in Michigan in the summer. She loved taking care of her young cousins, as if they were her own children, and would take them on trips with her. The extension of her caring went out to those in the aging process, as she cared for her mother, step father and Agnes, a family friend. She was also a member of the Double Beach Club in Brandford, CT, and liked to go to Foxwoods. She worked for many years as a customer service representative for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Connecticut, and worked as a clerk for the Nashua District Court and eventually retired. She is survived by her cousins, William and Judy Bausha, Robert and Sue Bausha, Ben and Jeanne Bausha, LuAnn Laquerre and Bruce Bigalow, Kevin and Debra Bausha, Walter Bausha, and several distant cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Frank DeCrescenzo, her mother Stella (Bausha) Klimas and her step-father Alex Klimas. An hour of visitation will take place on Friday, January 5th from 9:00AM-10:00AM at the Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St. Nashua, a service will immediately follow at 10:00 in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pinewood Cemetery, Nashua after the service. The family would like to express their gratitude for the Visiting Angels, Home, Health and Hospice, and Laurel Place for their compassionate care.
