

Ian Laidlow Monks, 78, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2021. Born in Carlisle Cumberland, England on November 11, 1942, he was the son of the late John Monks and Muriel (Laidlow) Monks.
Ian grew up in Bournemouth England, and graduated from Bournemouth College. He did an apprenticeship at the De Havilland Aircraft Factory, which led to his lifelong career in manufacturing.
He met his wife of 55 years, Theresa (Terry) Nelson, in Bournemouth and they married in 1965. Soon after they moved to the United States, were Ian worked in manufacturing before opening his own company in 1973. Ian successfully built his company until his retirement in 2012. Many of those years spent working side by side with his wife and sons.
He cherished his time spent with family, friends, and respected colleagues and clients. He loved English soccer and Rugby, and boating on Lake Winnipesaukee.
He is survived by his loving wife Theresa (Terry) Monks; son Russell Monks and his girlfriend, Tamara Taylor; daughter Karen Monks Riley and her husband Pat; Lee Monks and his wife Tammy; grandsons Patrick Reilly, Cooper Reilly, and Rian Monks; sister Jennifer Perrett; nephew Neil Perrett; and niece Andrea Perrett. His brothers Michael and Malcolm precede him in death.
