Lorraine E. Martin

Lorraine E. Martin, 86, a life-long resident of Nashua, NH passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Courville at Nashua Nursing Home. She was born August 5, 1927 in Hudson, NH, a daughter of the late Frank and Florida (Coll) Gilbert.

Mrs. Martin met her husband, John Martin; while roller skating and together they went on to compete in many roller skating competitions. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains, especially vacationing in the White Mountains and she enjoyed her cruise to the Caribbean. Mrs. Martin loved animals and adored cats. She also enjoyed bowling, crafting, ceramics and playing solitaire. Mrs. Martin also enjoyed simply hanging out with her friends Nora, Diane, Vivian and Helen. She was a beloved mother and wife who will dearly be missed.

She is survived by her daughter; Lorrie Morin and her husband Joseph of Nashua, three grandchildren; Patti, Bobby and David and by a brother; Donald Gilbert and his wife Bonnie of Nashua. She was predeceased by her husband; John E. Martin in 1982, a step-son; Frank Martin, a brother; Frank Gilbert and a sister; Leona Gilbert.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am Friday in St. Patrick Parish, 29 Spring St., Nashua. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, 102 Derry Rd., Hudson. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Greater Nashua, 24 Ferry Rd., Nashua, NH 03064.
