

Nicholas Salis, long-time Nashua businessman and proprietor of Nick’s Esso/Exxon station, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the age of 90. He was born in Boston on April 17, 1925 and was raised in and became a life-long resident of Nashua.
Mr. Salis fought for his country in World War II in the Pacific Theatre as a U.S. Marine. After the war he married the love of his life, Lillian Fanos, with whom he shared 65 years of a wonderful marriage. Nick and Lillian raised three children in Nashua: Peter and twins Michael and Connie.
Mr. Salis was an avid golfer, achieving 5 holes in one in his lifetime. He was a member of the Nashua Country Club for 50+ years. Nick and Lil spent the winter months in Florida for many years. Nick loved to play cards, specifically average, although he was also very fond of blackjack.
Mr. Salis, who was also known as Dad, Papou, and Papou Nick, was a very humble, giving, and caring man who touched the hearts and lives of everyone he met. He was predeceased by his wife in June of 2012. He is survived by his children, Peter and Susan Salis of Seneca, SC, Connie and Lefty Manus of Concord, NH, and Michael and Karen Salis of Merrimack, NH, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Becca (and George) Torosian, Mary Poliquin, and sister-in-law Jenny Fanos, and many nieces and nephews.
At Mr. Salis’ request, the funeral is private and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis St., Nashua, NH.
