

Ronald J. Zerba, 73, of Washington, NH passed away at his home on Thursday, September 8, 2011. He was born in Nashua, NH on March 3, 1938, son of the late Anthony and Caroline (Piwowarski) Zerba. Mr. Zerba proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Upon his discharge he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Zerba enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, especially his hunting trips to Colorado. He also enjoyed gardening. Upon his return to NH his later years were spent just as he had wanted, living in his log cabin, in the woods on the side of a mountain.
He is survived by two nieces; Cindy Gourgue of Hampton, NH and Mary Ellen Varney of Allenstown, NH. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews; Amanda Gourgue and Peter Gourgue, both of Lee, NH, Kayla Leach, Joshua Varney and Cassidy Varney, all of Antrim, NH. He was predeceased by his wife; Gert Zerba in 2009, two brothers; Anthony and Daniel Zerba, two sisters; Catherine Ledoux and Caroline E. Varney and also by a nephew; Robert Varney in 2011.
There were no visiting hours. Following cremation a private burial service with military honors was held in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
