

Born in Calabria, Italy, Rose immigrated to Cambridge Massachusetts with her parents and siblings in her early childhood. She was educated in catholic schools in Cambridge MA and met her future husband, Anthony through her pastor at St. Anthony’s Parish in Boston’s North End. The love story of Rose and Anthony spanned 63 years and beyond the death of her devoted husband in 2008.
For many years Rose and Anthony spent winters at their home in Daytona Beach, Florida. They were very active members of the Italian-American community and Our Lady of Lourdes parish at Daytona Beach.
Rose was the heart and soul of her family whom she nurtured and loved with extraordinary devotion. Her all-embracing love and caring extended to neighbors, friends, and the community-at-large. Wherever there was a need, Rose would be there to lend a loving hand. All who knew her treasured her kindness, generosity, culinary expertise, and heartwarming personality. Rose was an accomplished violinist. Her love of poetry and music manifested itself in many ways including serving as a member of St. Christopher’s Church Choir. Her culinary skills were legendary. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her world.
She was an active partner is her husband’s real estate businesses which included Downtown Realty, Ten Star Realty, Matarazzo Real Estate, Matarazzo Homes, Matarazzo Group, Trident, Matarazzo Hudson Associates, Inc., Rosadora, and the Prescot Association. With her husband Anthony, she was actively involved in civic and community organizations in Nashua such as the Italian-American Club of Greater Nashua, Heart of Nashua Block Party, Festival of Nations at the Arts & Science Center, and the Soup Kitchen annual Thanksgiving Dinner to name a few.
Rose is survived by twin daughters, Maria and Gelsa Matarazzo of Nashua; a son, Anthony P. Matarazzo and his wife Joan of Nashua; three grandchildren, Derrick Couture of Nashua, Amy and Joel Flaherty of Pelham, and Anthony and Meeghan Bird Matarazzo of Colchester, VT; three great granddaughters, Lucia and Rafaella Bird Matarazzo and Alexa Flaherty; and a great grandson, Amadeo Bird Matarazzo. She is also survived by nieces and nephews in the Cella family in CA as well as nieces and nephews of her departed sisters, Millie Quimby and Francesca Racicot and departed brother, Louis Sottile.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 from 4 PM to 7 PM at ZIS-SWEENEY FUNERAL HOME, 26 Kinsley Street, Nashua, NH 03060. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Parish, 29 Spring Street, Nashua NH. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Hearing Foundation, 8 South Michigan Avenue
