

Edgar D. “Ed” Lucas, age 81, of Nashville, died Saturday morning at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Indiana. He was born April 19, 1933 in Brown County, the son of Albert Harlan and Arlene (Hillenburg) Lucas. He graduated in 1951 from Van Buren High School and had attended classes at Indiana University. He served in the U.S. Army as a Quartermaster from June 1953 to May 1955. He later owned and operated the Green Valley Sunoco from 1966 to 1979, the Green Valley Motor Lodge from 1981-1999 and currently owner of Red Bud Storage. He served on the Brown County Fair Board for 19 years and was a member of the Coffeehouse Five, in Greenwood and the Parkview Church of the Nazarene in Nashville.
He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Phyllis (Carmichael) Lucas, of Nashville, whom he married December 1953 in Bloomington; his children, Teresa Harden, Nashville, Madeline Lucas, Nashville, Stanley Lucas, Nashville and Michelle Peters (Brian), of Greenwood; four grandsons, Ryan Harden, Aaron Harden, Taylor Peters and Lucas Peters, one granddaughter, Amanda Peters and one great-grandson, Cash Harden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Brand and one brother, Jack Lucas.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. at the Parkview Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Charlie Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Parkview Church of the Nazarene.
